Q: I see the two pairs of heims are a little different. Do the 3/4 x 5/8 go on the drag link or tie rod?
A: Our XJ/TJ/Mj/ZJ kit does feature 2 different size heims. The 3/4 x 3/4 are used on the drag link since the drag link will use the misalignment spacers (taking the size down to 5/8" for the new hardware we include).
The 3/4 x 5/8" heim is for the tie rod since it does not need the misalignment spacers.
Q: I was wondering if you know if this kit will work with the Iron Rock Offroad 5/8" OTK steering set up? I want to replace all ends and heims but they charge an arm and a leg for their individual pieces.
If it will fit, what brand/quality are these heims? IRO claims QA1 heims with radial static load capacity of 32,457 lbs. so I'd like to meet that if possible.
A: Hey Max,
I do not believe this kit will work with their system. It is my understanding that kit uses smaller 5/8" heims (hence the name). This kit utilizes 3/4" shank heims which are industry standard for steering components.
Q: If I have the tie rod ends can I convert to the heim joints with this kit? If so what would I need to do?
A: Just to make sure I understand your question. It sounds like you have another brands steering kit and want to replace the TRE's with our heims. Without knowing what kit it is, what size tubing, thread size, and thread pitch, I cannot tell you whether or not our heims will work with another brands kit.
